But speed can be fun

Arty McGlynn plays guitar on so many recordings, but I've never seen video footage of the man himself. I'm a sucker for this tempo, if not lousy at keeping this tempo for a whole set.
I'll buy tea for the person who can name the tunes.
Tune of the week to follow:

First tune is indeed Down the Broom as advertised, the other two I don`t know.

I love the way Arty keeps the groove here. I love Arty in general; he plays in my favourite tuning (Drop D) and I think I use the same kinds of open chord shapes as he does. But he is a master of the walking bass line. In the second tune he comes off as a bass player, holding down the groove while giving the tune movement. I would love to learn how to do that.

Playing fast is only fun when there`s a groove, otherwise its clunky. The thing about this bit is that I think it`s too fast for PJ. He does what I do when the tune gets away from him and starts playing some long notes in the third tune. Love the comment at You Tube where someone says `keep it lite pat joe."

Awesome clip.
